One thing is for sure, nobody likes recoil.
But recoil
is a fact of life for all of us.
The key is to do
whatever it takes to make recoil manageable enough so it does
not effect your shooting ability. One way of doing this is to
choose a caliber that you can comfortably shoot. Lets face it
though, you might be wanting to shoot game that is big enough
to require a larger caliber. If this is the case, there are a
number of ways to bring recoil to an acceptable level. First,
choose a good recoil pad. We believe the Pachmayr Decelerator
is the finest recoil reducing pad on the market. Next, there
are a number of recoil reducing devices that really take the
bite out. Although the products we have listed are but a few
available on the market, these are the ones we feel have the
quality and performance worthy of a Brown Precision rifle.
High Performance Muzzle Brake
The most efficient brake on the market, our
High Performance Brake will reduce recoil as much as 50%.
We have changed the baffle system to get peak performance on
large bore rifles.
This brake simply unscrews from the barrel if your do not
want to use it in the field. Under these conditions we
recommend a thread protector (see below) to protect the
finely machined threads from dirt and damage.
Mag-Na-Port
The Mag-Na-Port
system has been around for years, and is the best of the porting
processes. Using an EDM machine, slots (ports) are cut directly
into the barrel. Because they are cut directly into the barrel,
no extra length is added. These ports are designed to divert the
gases from the bore upward, which in turn tends to keep the
muzzle down. This does a number of things. First, it allows the
gun to recoil in a more direct line with the bore. Because your
body can absorb this better, it gives the perception of less
recoil. It also allows for a quick second shot. Mag-Na-Port is a
great system on a rifle with a lot of muzzle jump. If your rifle
does not “jump” much, but simply recoils a lot, a muzzle
brake would be a better choice.
Muzzle
Brake Thread Protector
Muzzle brakes, even the
quietest ones, are loud! To save your ears, simply unscrew
and remove your High Performance Muzzle Brake and screw on this thread
protector whenever hearing protection will not be worn.
Muzzle brake reinstalls easily.
*Note: All Muzzle brakes increase the noise
level to the shooter and people around you. Brown Precision
highly recommends quality hearing protection when shooting with
a muzzle brake.
